Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2021

Hello everyone! Hope you all are doing well! I disappeared for a while because I was busy with my internship.

Today I’m doing the mid-year book freak out tag! I’m not tagging anyone in particular. Feel free to do it if you want to!

Now let’s begin!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far In 2021

A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman

I read this book when I was diagnosed with Covid and was in the hospital. I had also lost my grandmother a few days ago when I started reading it. It had been recommended to me by one of my best friends and I loved it so much. Needless to say, I did tear up while reading it but it taught me how to deal with my loss and was a balm to my soul. Fredrik Backman is my new favorite author.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far In 2021

Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

I have only read one sequel so far (lol!) but I can safely say it was the best one. Heartstopper is such a wonderful comic. I am currently reading the 3rd Volume and feel I will love it too.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

The Mountains Sing by Nguyen Phan Que Mai

I have heard so much about this book and I am really excited to read it.

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year

The Forest Of Vanishing Stars by Kristen Harmel

This book released on 6th July 2021 and I am really keen to read it. It’s a historical fiction centered around WW II.

Biggest Disappointment

Autumn by Ali Smith

Does it ever happen to you that you give a book a higher rating and then later change your mind? That’s what happened to me with this book. I initially gave this book 4 stars, I feel 3 stars would have been a better projection of my feeling for this book, as I found it bizarre and incomprehensible at certain parts. I honestly expected a lot from this book and felt disappointed in the end.

Biggest Surprise

Counting Down With You by Tashie Bhuiyan

This book was the author’s debut and it was spectacular! I loved this so much.

Favourite New Author (Debut Or New To You)

Brit Bennett is my new favorite author. I read The Vanishing Half in June and loved it a lot.

Newest Fictional Crush

Ace from Counting Down With You! He’s so kind and supportive!

Newest Favourite Character

Red from Get A Life, Chloe Brown!

Book That Made You Cry

Book That Made You Happy

I adored the story of Chloe and Red.

The Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year (Or Received)

The House In The Cerulean Sea By TJ Klune

I have bought only one physical book so far, and I love the cover of this book and am really excited to read this book.

What Books Do You Need To Read By The End Of The Year?

The Poppy War Trilogy by R.F. Kuang

It’s high time I read this trilogy.

Favourite Book To Movie Adaptation You’ve Seen This Year

To All The Boys: Always & Forever

I felt this movie was a beautiful and hopeful end to the trilogy.
