Turning 25 years old

Hello, peeps! Today marks 25 years of me existing on this planet. You guessed it right. It’s my birthday today! I feel so old! My youth is slipping away. Anyway, as I am officially a quarter of a century old now, I thought I would share 25 things I have learned in these 25 years. They are the following:

  1. Never over-generalize.
  2. Life isn’t exciting every single day, though Instagram posts of other people may make you feel so.
  3. You cannot love all aspects of a person.
  4. Never take anyone for granted, not even your family. Tell them that you appreciate and love them.
  5. Patience bears sweet fruit.
  6. If you are an introvert (like me), you may like to be alone at times and just stay at home on the weekend instead of going out and that is perfectly okay.
  7. Regret is of no use. Learn from decisions that you regret and move on.
  8. Maintain a healthy outlook on things.
  9. People change with time.
  10. Forgive yourself for your past mistakes. Move on.
  11. A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Exercise every day.
  12. You are talented. Use your talents. You have to work hard to get better at them.
  13. Do things that bring you joy, even if you feel you are mediocre at them.
  14. Minimum seven hours of sleep is important. Don’t burn yourself out.
  15. There is no “right time” to start something.
  16. Fight against your habit of procrastination.
  17. You are far from perfect. But don’t be upset about it. There is always room for improvement, no matter your age.
  18. No one is better and/or worse than you. We are all equals.
  19. Perfectionism is not something to be proud of. It is a negative trait and shouldn.t be encouraged.
  20. This is not a lesson but a realization that books shouldn’t be compared to each other and shouldn’t be given awards as taste in books (or music) are subjective. Some books may seem terrible to you and not worth a read, but they may be loved by others. In a world of billion people, how can a few people hold the monopoly of deciding whether a book is good or not?
  21. Some people love you while some can’t stand the sight of you.  The former may be few, but don’t stress. It is the quality that matters, not quantity.
  22. Trying to impress people or being a people-pleaser will always land you in difficult situations.
  23. If people are making fun of you in your presence, sometimes it is best to ignore them and not be provoked by the bad-mouthing people. But this is not true for every situation. Again, it depends on the circumstances.
  24. Be a little kind to yourself.
  25. Smile and laugh more.

Well, that was a really long post. I hope some of you can relate. Feel free to comment and share lessons you have learned in your life. Until next time!
